Let me be the first to welcome you and heap loads of encouragement on you.
Be sure to learn to cut a good plug, used a ground cover and leave your "digs" undetectable to the rest of the world.
If you need any guidance, youtube has plenty on those topics...
Good job.

Welcome, I'm not sure about the rock, but the tag looks like a rose tag. What metal detector are you using?

Ya it s a rose tag. know anything about the rose tag? I am using the fisher F2

What's to know about a rose tag? They tried to make the transplants seem more important by putting a serial number and possibly the name on the tag. Still do they same thing with plastic these days. And of course, when the person planted it, off came the tag and onto the dirt. I have found several. Rose tag, key to master padlock, old roadster. Cool roadster. Can't figure out what rock thingy you asked about, but would love to see it close up.

Ditto on the other hobby advice. Dig long and prosper.

WELCOME TO TREASURE NET!!!
ABOUT THAT ROCK.... IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS BEEN BURNED, DON'T CLEAN IT UP. TREAT IT LIKE AN OLD COIN....DONT RUB DIRT OFF OF OLD COINS!! TAKE TIME TO READ FROM SOME OF THE PRO COIN HUNTERS AND COLLECTORS ON TN. THEY CAN TEACH YOU A LOT OF VALUABLE LESSONS.(I'M NOT ONE,I JUST READ WHAT THEY SAY AND LEARN) ....BACK TO THE ROCK, IT MAY JUST BE A HOT ROCK (HAS METAL OR MAGNETIC PROPERTIES) OR IT MIGHT BE A METEORITE.
IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS BEEN BURNED FROM FRICTION PASSING THRU AIR, IT COULD BE VALUABLE. THERE ARE MANY U-TUBE VIDEOS THAT WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO TELL.

BY FAR... MOST ARE WORTHLESS.. BUT METEORITES ARE EVERYWHERE ON THE PLANET.
CLEAN IT CAREFULLY. SOAK IT AND USE SOFT CLOTH. DON'T TRY TO GET RID OF THE BURN MARKS.

GLAD TO FIND ANOTHER ADDICT ON BOARD.

HAPPY HUNTING
