Detector(s) used
TDI, DFX, M6, XLT, XL Pro, CM 6000 Di Pro, Beach Hunter ID 300, Beach Hunter ID, Surfmaster P.I.(Plus)
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Stayed up too late last night, alarm went off at 5:30 am. Turned it off and went back to bed. Got up at 6:30 stumbled to a window to check the weather. Snow and cold. Very cold. Got dressed, loaded up my detector, owner's manual (just in case I got confused), a couple plastic shopping bags, digging tool, and screwdriver.
I had selected a local elementary school as my first area other than my own yard because the playground is behind the school and out of sight of the road, and the school is only a few miles from home. The ground was wet, air temperature 29* F, with a light snow falling. I didn't stay too long (about an hour), because my nose and toes were frozen, but I did manage to find $0.45, a Starter jacket zipper fob, and a pendant. Nobody can tell me this isn't worth the $200.00 investment in the detector! ;D
It was fun finding stuff, good practice for the different sounds, as well as learning how to recover items without leaving divots. There was something else, as well. Out in the field wrapped up in my own little world, I was unaware of the passage of time. I think I could have gone all day if I hadn't frozen to death! All in all, a very pleasant first outing. I think I am hooked! ;)

Nice first finds! If you THINK you're hooked now, just wait to see how hooked you are when it's warm and sunny and you can actually go out without getting frostbite and you can actually dig and find lots! Good luck and HAPPY HUNTING!!!

Nice finds and remember it won't always be cold. Glad you perservered and went hunting anyway. Good luck! Jim Cal

Thanks folks!
The way I carried on when I got home, my bride said she thought I had found something really valuable. ;D

I told her I had... ;)

WOW! That detector of yours looks like it just came out of the box! 20 years old (almost) and it looks like it's never been turned on! LOL. Beautiful. Oh, welcome to the forum. Post lots of pics.. We like pictures here.

i give the little nicknack jewelry stuff to my kids they are like cool weres the match to it?well they will get the match when i find it"someday".

You think you are hooked now, wait until you pull that first silver coin out of the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice first finds there!

It'll get better (wait til you hit like 6 or 8 quarters in a row in like 5 minutes)!

You'll have the 200.00 detector paid for in no time and working on a 2nd time!

Also, time stands still when detecting- you can get so wrapped up for hrs upon hrs that you forget all about time! lol

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but i feel it's my duty. Theres a very contagious disease that has been linked to this hobby. And millions of people around the globe have been infected. Theres very little known about it. The top minds in the medical fields have given the disease a name "Detectoridis" Theres no known cure. And it progresses rapidly. So you might as well grab your detector and get out there and enjoy the time you have left. And by the way....GREAT FINDS!!! WTG!! Great start! It's just the beginning!
