This rain has been driving me nuts! 34 out of 38 days is long enough. The field I want to work is like a swamp, along with every other place I like to hit on the side. Well, I woke up late this morning and it wasn't raining. So I grabbed my detector and headed out determined to find a simi-dry place to hunt. The only place I found that you didn't have to wade to was a slope on the side of the track field at a local middle school. I managed to get in about 2 hours hunting before it got too hot and humid. Oh, and I forgot my Redneck meter cover, and the meter would blank out every time the sun came out for any amount of time. Whites told me that in direct sunlight, in high temperatures, that that would happen. They said I could send it in and have the meter replaced for about $75.00, and that MIGHT take care of the problem, or I could keep it covered. I guess you know what choice I'm going with. Anyway, I ended up with some clad, a dog rabies tag, and a bracelet made from fishing swivels...duel purpose I guess. I also noticed that this super swampy, water logged ground sure throws off the depth reading for a target. I couldn't depend on it at all. So there you have it, and if it doesn't rain for the rest of the day and night, I will hit my sports field in the morning.

Good to see you could get out. I had the screen die on my XLT and I thought of the problem you are having but it was because my battery's were too low and there was only enough juice for sound left :P That was the first time I let the voltage drop that low.
Scared me for a second. Good luck in the field and HH,
Donny

Way to go Blue, those soccer fields are hot. When are you going to start finding the rings? Wow, buffalo nickels, now that's cool! So you shot your camera, eh? There's some things around here I'd like to shoot too. Way to go on those fields!

That's OK, I'll show you tomorrow what I find in my half of the field. :D

good finds , wish we could get some of your rain here. the ground is like concrete , i can't remember the last rain we had to amount to anything

Man, I wish we could get some of that rain. :'(
Nice finds. What year is on the dog tag?
Great job,
MM

Glad to see you made it out! Clad total looks good....some of us need rain....some have to much...crazy!

Dog tag is 1990. It has rained so much here the grass is dieing because of rotting.

Nice water detecting!

It rained just enough to make a frog mad here today. Aside from that? Bone dry!

I guess we just need to adapt as we go.

looks like a great day of hunting to me piggman ! congrats and dont forget your cover tommorow ;)

Nice totals Piggmann. The grass is just starting to green up here in central Illinois, due to the much needed rain. Send some rain our way! HH and good luck.

Good finds, and glad you found a place to hunt, i look forward to seeing your post and results of your finds, and appreciate your post for me, helps me learn, take care Dusty

Good you got out! You might consider re hunting some older sites with all that rain, should get better depth after it drys off a bit. HH, Mike

We're gona change your handle from Piggman to Frogman! Had the same kind of rain here in Oklahoma last month. It stopped here two weeks ago and the ground is rock hard again. By this time of of the summer we would have been beach hunting with great returns. No way, our lakes are still sitting about 15 feet above normal. All the beaches are closed. Glad to hear you were able to get out a bit yesterday. Good luck today. HH

Desertfox :D :D
