This rain has been driving me nuts! 34 out of 38 days is long enough. The field I want to work is like a swamp, along with every other place I like to hit on the side. Well, I woke up late this morning and it wasn't raining. So I grabbed my detector and headed out determined to find a simi-dry place to hunt. The only place I found that you didn't have to wade to was a slope on the side of the track field at a local middle school. I managed to get in about 2 hours hunting before it got too hot and humid. Oh, and I forgot my Redneck meter cover, and the meter would blank out every time the sun came out for any amount of time. Whites told me that in direct sunlight, in high temperatures, that that would happen. They said I could send it in and have the meter replaced for about $75.00, and that MIGHT take care of the problem, or I could keep it covered. I guess you know what choice I'm going with. Anyway, I ended up with some clad, a dog rabies tag, and a bracelet made from fishing swivels...duel purpose I guess. I also noticed that this super swampy, water logged ground sure throws off the depth reading for a target. I couldn't depend on it at all. So there you have it, and if it doesn't rain for the rest of the day and night, I will hit my sports field in the morning.
