Today I went River hunting for the first time with another guy that had never been water hunting himself! Couple of rookies. But we found some thing and had a blast doing it. Here are a few of my keepers.

Thanks Kurios1, I wasn't real thrilled about reaching into a few of the holes but I got used to it pretty quick. Now I have stepped into it I am ready to go again soon. Thanks for the post.

Nice heavy scoop may help if you plan on doing this alot, don't want to risk a puncture by who knows what in the murk.

As close to treasure hunting in the ocean as I can get. Stay at it y'all will be surprised at the stuff you find in swimming holes. After 5 years of doing it where I live I have sold over 5K worth of gold and silver jewelry plus I keep all the silver coins. Y'all are fixing to have a ball...d2

Yes that might work in some places. But most of this river is compacted stone and crevices. Pretty much have to move rocks one at a time or use your fingers to clear sand amongst the stones. But I need a good scoop so this might be an excuse to buy one, LOL!

Wow, that great! If I do swimming holes I will need to get an AT Pro or something submersible. I have an ACE 400 so I have to be able to keep its little head above water. No problem in the shallows because there are plenty of rocks to prop it up while digging.

I now use a detector pro water pirate, as a matter if fact I paid for it the first week or 2 I had it. People are gonna fuss but if I find your class ring and don't know you it's gone to the refinery...d2

The first time I had to submerge my head underwater I got a huge mouthful of nasty river water! LOL! I was freaking out! It's kinda' spooky but, fun as heck. Enjoy yourself but, do be careful as there are more risks involved with this method of treasure hunting.:icon_thumleft:

Here were I metal detect we have mostly sand and gravel bottoms and I use a long handled scoop. The places where there are large rocks like your swimming hole we don't detect in much. It always amazes me what we find in swimming holes and what jewelry people wear in swimming...d2005.JPG001.JPG

Nice!! Would be nice and cool this time of year...

Congratualtions on the very nice relic hunt! :occasion14:
