So I have had the AT Pro for a month now. Picked up a heavy bracelet and really heavy chain and crucifix hunting dry sand at the beach.

Decided to try the AT in the water this past weekend and picked up a bunch of junk jewelry and a really nice sapphire and diamond ring in 5ft deep water. First time in the water = gold... can't complain at all!!

Also got to use homemade long handled scoops we made a few days prior. Worked perfect and cost $8.50 or so.

Nice finds!
Lets here about the scoops too, I'm curious to see what you have come up with.

Thanks!

it is a piece of PVC with a PVC drain end on it, cut diagonally so that you can dig into the sand and then drilled out to strain.
The handle is a piece of conduit, bent twice so that the first bend lets you hold it normally at an angle to begin the scoop motion and the second helps you level it without losing your balance. I wish it was a bit wider but for being 1/10 the price of most water scoops I have seen I will use it anytime.

The handle is attached by drilling out a hole through the scoop, flattening the end of the conduit and then screwing it to the bottom of the PVC. This not only holds the pipe to the scoop, but prevents it from swiveling around.

Please post pics of scoop

Was this fresh water? The AT Pro struggles in salt water, yes? Nice find!

Justin,I can see you now, SUPER find Dude!!!!!!!!! God Bless Chris

I will try to remember pics of the scoop next time I take pics of my finds:thumb_up:

Grant- This was freshwater. never been in the water before with it and never used the scoops, so didn't want to fight waves quite yet.

Chris- haha that's too funny!!

I've used the AT Pro on saltwater beaches and some in the saltwater. A bit chatty in the water, but other than that it ran fine. I think the AT Gold is the one that doesn't do well in saltwater.
