Hi, my name is Sam and I'm 15. I have owned my metal detectorS for three years. Now my family has a cottage since I was ten. This property is very old 1802 house 1795 property when I was twelve I found a cache of copper coinage withe silver dollars and small gold that was three years ago.

Now let's talk about today found nothing from modern currency in the last 3 years until 12:30 today my dad was cutting the front yard in front of our cabin when he did mot realize he was cutting onto the shortest cut possible (like golf coarse short) I'm glad this happened but thank God he started with the front then all of a sudden, BOOM he hits something I hear it and I come outside be shifts right and BOOM what the heck is he hitting BOOM BOOM and then BOOOOOOOOMMMMM like a gun shot I realized what he was hitting, an old walkway to the front door from about 1910 I assume it was put in when That part of the house was expanded. Now what's the first thing that comes to mind Get the Metal Detectors The path way is about 30 ft long from the drive way to the door now I found nothing but iron junk but the I drop my metal detector on one of the rocks UGH! Is it broken no but It was a solid silver tone I thought that was because I hit the rock but I check it again and it says silver 4 inches deep directly under a stepping stone I try to remove the stone WOW it popped up like a dream like a preschoolers puzzle and I see something I thought it was iron but I pick it up and it is a silver........

Spoon i pick it up all excited but I think to muse log it's all cowrote do no way is this silver but there was no rust and silver does not rust so if It were mixed metals it would have rust

The hallmarks are usually on the backside of the handle. Check closely to see if you can find writing there. It would say "sterling" if silver. To clean your spoon, first lay a piece of tin foil is a glass bowl that is wide enough to lay your spoon down in. Cover the spoon with a tablespoon of salt and enough baking soda to cover it. Then slowly pour boiling water over it until it is fully covered by water and let it sit til the water cools. One it is cool, wipe the spoon with a dry cloth and the tarnish should come off.

Your spoon is a fiddle-thread form. If there was to be a mark, it would be on the back side of the spoon on the length of the shaft.

It appears to have been silver plate. Probably late 1880's to 1900.

Thanks for the information I could tell coin dealers about coins but I know nothing about spoons any more information or disagreed information please post

I am truly grateful because I thought 20's to depression but now I know it's even older thanks
