Phew, how time has flown. I was just a kid with a erratic old single knob Jetco? maybe. Days were spent digging up tons of nails and farm trash without much reward. Every once in a while I would find something that was not a nail :)

Went back to this site yesterday. Man has technology change metal detecting. I bought a Fisher F4 and only dug 2 nails all day and those were on purpose. You see, I bought this detector a year ago and finally I'm getting a chance to use it. Boy, can't believe how easy this is now a days compared to the old bonk, bonk, bonk days.

So, please enjoy what I found. Anyone have any ideas on why so many harmonica parts ? I posted all the relics except for the shotgun shells, misc. tin, ect. Seems like a lot of harmonicas for a farm house. Civil war maybe ?? These items were found about 50 yards from the old "Ninety-Six Indian Trail". This was a old indian and colonial route from Charleston to the interior of South Carolina

And can anyone tell me what the item is on the bottom, second from the left. A mule harness piece of hardware maybe ?? The hole in the middle is slightly larger that a quarter. Sorry for not having a scale.

Thanks everyone for reading and I hope to hear from you.

Great stuff! Some kid prolly got mad....and trashed his harmonica!!! I used a Tesoro Sidewinder for years....still do sometimes....and had a bounty hunter. Now I finally got a Whites DFX300 and cant believe the difference!!!

Nice finds...tried to buy an F4 yesterday, but was outbid.... :BangHead:

Your "?",is the finger loop off of a candlestick holder.Neat finds!

Welcome to the forum! Some nice finds and the site looks to have a lot of potential. I also wonder why I find so many harmonica reed pieces that do not fit together. Reason must be a heavy prevalence of people which means more possibilities. I hunt in all metal mode usually and try to dig it all. HH, Mike

I don't know what your whatzit is... but the item on the bottom left may be a bridle rosette. It is the right size. Is it lead-filled on the back?

That is the kind of stuff you love to see coming up. Congrats.

I would venture to guess all the reed parts is that they were easily carried, and great time killers....

My guess is that because harmonicas come in different Keys, a single musician would likely have several on hand. Were they all close together?
