The 10x5 packs a punch. Very strong mid size coil. It hammers small objects. I dug smaller rivets yesterday that I don't think I would find with the standard coil. This is a good and bad thing as I think the coil suffers a loss of depth in iron because it picks up on the smallest pieces of debris. This is a catch 22. It might separate better on surface finds in heavy iron. I pulled an 1851 seated dime out of a heavy iron site yesterday and I know the site had been searched by multiple detectorists that all use Equinoxes. Plus the site was searched multiple times with a Deus. Good day though with 2 silvers and a V nickel.

Good report, Chris. How do you feel it does with "nail falsing," versus the Minelab coils (particularly compared to the 6")? Or is it too soon to tell?

I think it picks up on the round head of nails and gives those a solid VDI. Usually 18. Over all I think it falses about the same as the Minelab coils. In those iron infested spots it's a crap shoot on what you hear. Trying to get a two way signal can almost be impossible.

Got, thanks Chris!

Thanks for sharing this Chris. I had the 6" last year but sold it because it just didn't cover enough ground, and because I was planning to pick up one of these 10x5 Coiltek coils at some point. But there impossible to find! A used one on eBay just sold for over $300! Any secrets on how to find one? Where'd you get yours, Chris?

Contact Gerry's Metal Detectors out of Boise ID. He told me he had a large shipment of them in.

Using my Equinox 600 with the Coiltek 10X5, I found these relics...Flintlock rifle parts, hatchet head and all these copper bells. It works extremely well!!!
