First Successful Hunt Since April - Video Added

I had to find something because it had been way to long since I had found a complete Point or an artifact of any type. I hit my hillside Ft Ancient site and did a little crawling and clearing leaves. I spent about three hours and found one really nice Serrated Triangle Point, a nice Bone Bead, a Deer Toe Tinkler, a piece of cut and drilled out Deer Antler that was going to be turned into an Antler Arrowpoint, a piece of Bead Stock, some Pottery shards, and some odds and ends. It felt really good to finally find something. I believe that is my longest drought in all of my years hunting.

Here's a few in situ pictures and a picture of some Pottery and Bone I found in about 10 minutes of clearing off some leaves on the hillside. You could literally fill up a bucket with Pottery in less than an hour on this site. It is everywhere. I only keep rim pieces, handle pieces, or decorated pieces.

Cool finds Steve. That triangle is killer.......

Nice finds! The In situ shot of serrated in the leaves is cool!

If only!!! I would give up bow hunting to hunt artifacts. Not much found here in Michigan. You had a great day.

Awesome, great finds, glad you broke the skunk-streak..nice point too Steve.
I'd love to find some pot shards and bone/antler...in 7 years headhunting here, I've found exactly 3 shards...and zero confirmed bone.

You want some Pottery? I have tons of pieces laying around and I could even go back and get that pile. I know exactly where it is. PM me your address and I'll send you some. I don't give away my Handle pieces but I'm sure I have some Rim pieces I could send you.

Thanks for the comments guys. It felt great to finally find a few pieces. I have hunted the river bank several times this summer which usually always gets me 10 to 15 decent trayable pieces each year but nothing this summer. Only two broken bases and lots of Flint. Once this vegetation starts dying out on the hillside I will hit this after every rain.

Very neat finds, Finding different tools they used everyday is still as exciting to me as a point. I haven't been out since spring and need to start finding artifacts soon as well. Seems like a really interesting area, Still waiting to find my first bead/bone/pottery artifacts.

I've seen modern tinklers made from hooves, but never noted toe bones used , so thanks for sharing that.
Quite the point recovery....congrats , and patience was rewarded.

You got a good eye and some nice goodies! Good site your on. May your luck continue.

Great stuff!! Have you ever found a bone whistle?? That's on my bucket list!!

I feel your pain. I have one spot that I've been hunting for years. It's manageable for about 4 months out of the year. Right before and right after the winter. The one upside is knowing that 99% of the time you find artifacts when hunting. HH!

wtg on the triangle and other finds. Looks like a nice sharp triangle too...

We find a bunch of these on the Ft Ancient sites in our area.
