Ace 250
With the snow finally gone it was time to tune up the ol Ace 250, I pulled it out of the shed and turned it on with the coil resting on the ground. After I was sure the batteries were still good I was just playing around with the settings by my shed, not looking for anything but familiarizing myself (it had been 6 long months). 3 seconds after setting it to coin mode and about 1 foot from where I originally turned the machine on, I got a good quarter signal at 2". So here I am standing in my hard packed gravel driveway lamenting the idea of even digging 2" into the pack, I brushed away some of the loose gravel and lo and behold the was a '86 Washington. My wife was standing close and I said "look honey, a quarter. 1 minute into the season and this baby is already paying for itself." She rolled her eyes at me and went in the house???? No picture because I am sure you have all seen a clad '86 quarter, and beings it was just under the loose gravel by where I park my truck it's more likely that I was just reunited with the quarter. Hey, a quarter is a quarter. The Ace is a great machine in finding clad. I have been finding that gravel is a good place to find clad. I set my Ace to only look for dimes and quarters in the gravel, so I'm not digging a lot of junk. I have found a lot of coins in gravel parking areas. If you have a good digger like a Gator or Lesche, it is not too hard to dig coins, even in hard packed gravel.

This is one of the few hobbies that will pay for itself!

hh,

LOL ::) I know that look! She'll change her attitude when you bring home a nice big diamond ring! Unfortunately my wife said she is still waiting for that day! :(
