Well here in Michigan it's to hot to hunt so the wife and I went to find a new spot to detect. We were going through an old town when we saw a nice grassy strip on a public parkway. After popping some new clad I got a Wheatie, 1950. Told the wife that we were in an area old enough for silver. A while later I popped what I thought was a big token. I gave it a light brushing and saw it was a 1959 peso. I put it away and when I got home to research it I found it to be silver as I suspected it to be. Here it is all cleaned up. Even has writing around the rim. Pretty cool.

Cool find, congrats! :occasion14:

So, really a Mexican silver coin, not Spanish. GRATS!

Congratulations on Big Silver! I love that lettered edge! :occasion14:

Question. If it is 10 percent fine silver, what is the other 90 percent? Copper?

That’s a cool coin, Congrats! I would be stoked to dig one of those.

Technically, it’s Mexican silver.

Thanks back of the boat. I did Google it and look at multiple sites none told me the content of each metal. Guess I clicked on all the wrong sites. Which is typical for me. Lol. The coin is silver dollar size.
