Finally.....after a week of getting my new XLT, I was able to detect the only spot clear of any snow in my back yard. The temp was at least 50 here in Jersey this afternoon. I reached the 10' square of clearing and turned on the detector, balanced and in two seconds I got a clear signal. Depth read 4". I knelt down, took my shovel and "TINK!!" Ground is frozen solid. :-\ It took me 20 mins to dig the spot out. Sure enough, at 4" there was this silver quater shining in the sun. My first "real" detector, my first find with it wich turned out to be silver!! Hope I post this pic right.

Yes it was. And thanks for the replies. I wanted so badly to hunt more but after taking 20 mins to get thru 4" of ground, I decided to wait untill it gets a bit easier to dig. I did however run the coil over the ground as I headed back into the house and got a few good signals and made a mental note of where they were. HH
