I got my first silver coin with my 1350 this morning.
After hunting for a week with only clad found, I headed back the the church I grew up in. The church was built in 1902 with an addition put on in 1935. Back in the 80's I hunted this church with my old Garrett Groundhog. I found lots of silver and other old coins there. I got my Prizm III in March and hunted the church 4 times, finding nothing but clad. I decided to give the 1350 a shot before giving up on the spot.
I hunted the side yard for about an hour, finding clad and new pennies. I then decided to try some of the fringe areas. I headed toward the back of the church and a small patch of grass next to the back door. I got a strong dime signal at 3". I figured it was another clad dime. I cut the plug and dug two scoops of dirt. When I laid the 2nd scoop on the dropcloth I saw silver peeking out. I pulled the coin out and found it was a '34 Merc. I couldn't do the happy dance since I was down on one knee so I did the happy sway.
I crossed the sidewalk and swung the coil and got a loud coin hit. I cut the plug and in the bottom of the hole was a large round disc. I pulled it out and saw a '71 Kennedy half. I closed the plug, swung the detector and got a solid quarter signal. Right next to the half was a '70 quarter. I later found a '19 and '26 Wheatie. I guess I will have to head back there and continue hunting the fringes.
On the way home I stopped at McDonald's for lunch. I did not check my change before putting it in my pocket. When I got home and pulled it out I saw a dime that looked strange. It was a '51 Rosie. The way today is going I may have to go back out again.
HH all,
