Very beautiful design on your old spoon! I hope someone can help you i.d. the maker. If you can enlarge the area with the hallmark stamps, it will help them i.d. it. HH Andi

Can't see the hallmark very well, but the design sorta-kinda resembles the Florentine Lace pattern by Reed & Barton. :read2:

Thanks everyone !! :icon_thumright:

I no idea how to zoom on the hallmarks and saving it for better viewing :icon_scratch: :dontknow: I'm very limited what I can do on the computer :laughing7:

crusader gave me this web address for english silver marks mhttp://www.925-1000.com/british_marks.html

I have a book on english silver marks but I cannot see the ones you have. I always go out in daylight and use ambient light for real close up work.

hope this helps.

Ask Silverspoon he might know....LOL J/K

Seriously, that is the most beautiful spoon I've ever seen. You should make it into a piece of jewelry.

I made a 2 silver coin over the summer. When I found the spoon and seen the flower design and said this will be a nice ring for my daughter to wear!
Will post back when I do the spoon ring project. Here's the link from when I made the coin rings over the summer.

the first hall mark is the Town mark, corresponding to the mark of the Assay Office that has verified the piece (on yours it is Sheffield)
the second hall mark is the date mark or the makers mark (sorry but i can not see it clearly but i think its a makers mark)
the Lion passant guardant certifiying the silver quality (yours is for sterling) if the face is looking at you it was before 1820 if it is sideways it is after 1820

Thanks fmerg for the info!!!
