Nice- silver quarters have almost a quarter ounce of silver(6.25 grms) so even melted down its worth about $1.25.. They didnt mint any in 1933 but if you dig a 1932d or 1932s in fine You'll have a $100+ find--.Go back and GET'ER DONE--- good luck-By the way the wear issue was a major factor in ending of gold and silver coins.....

Congrats on the silver quarter.

Yes, clad coins wear but not nearly as fast as silver coins. Check your change for a 1965 quarter and you will likely see that it is well worn but not nearly as worn as the Standing Liberty quarters that I used to find in circulation before 1965. The SL quarters had at most 34 years of wear and were worn almost smooth. Compare that to that '65 quarter of today with 40 years of wear on it; it will be worn but not smooth. Silver is much softer than the cupro-nickel of today's clad coinage.

Great find. This place sounds Excellent. finding one means your close to others. Slow it down and keep the headphones on for thos faint sounds. Also go back over a small area in all metal if its free of trash and you may find more. HH

Nice find. As silver is a much softer metal, they coins did wear much faster than the alloys in todays coinage.
