Hey guys got back in my yard today with my fisher f4 and found my first silver! Well if it counts...Parker Pen 3 inches deep says "Parker sterling cap and barrel " 13.4 grams) which leads me to a question I can Google later but is sterling silver and silver all the Same ??

Also found a blob of metal I believe to be silver 5 inches deep and 5 inches from pen (and I just read a thread about that here) non ferrous, dense not soft and real shiny:laughing7: where I scraped it (14.1)grams..still have to test.

A fitting of some sort copper or brass at glance stamped "Landers Frary & Clark New Britain Conn...."

And old shotgun brass

Neat pen! :icon_thumright: Maybe an expert will chime in here to educate us all better on grades of silver. I not expert in anything, but in general USA talk, silver & sterling silver are often used interchangeably. In other countries, maybe not so or using different formulas. In my amateur jewelry classes, we used "fine silver" which is a bit closer to pure silver than sterling silver is. Years ago, Navajo people used to melt silver coins for making some of their beautiful jewelry. HAVE FUN! Andi

Thanks for the bit of info we had Seminoles here so maybe they did the same.
