Hi all,

This is my first post of the season..I've been out only a few times since I got a new job 4 months ago (not enough time anymore!) but it makes me appreciate being out all the more.

I went by a neighborhood I first got a chance to detect in 2007, where I had dug 5 Mercs, a silver quarter, about 10 silver Roosevelts, a Franklin half and close to 100 wheats. I called the owner of a vacant house he has for rent and got the ok..my first dig was an old Jefferson nickel, then I managed to get 55 more coins up before I called it quits. Only 2 were obsolete, a 1944 wheatie and a '47 Roosevelt dime, but I was happy to find both. Missed the Merc by only 2 years >:( but I had fun anyway. The weather was in the 40's, cloudy and windy, but I've detected in worse conditions so it was all good. I also found a race car, a .38 special cartridge, a whistle, a dog tag and a couple of strange weights tied to an aluminum wire..both have a "1" on them. If anyone knows what they were for, please let me know! Here's the pics of my outing:

Welcome back Nat.
We've missed your posts. Nice job on squeezing the last three coins out of that yard.
I see another car to add to your ever growing collection too. "He who dies with the most toys wins." :tongue3:
I haven't been out as much as I'd like either buddy.
Congrats,
Doug

Welcome back as well, Nat. Glad to see you made it out of hibernation as well. Looks like your back on a roll again..........Regards, Ron

Thanks Doug, Rick and Ron! I think that's #322 for the car collection, and it's my 743rd wheat..the dime I found makes the total 107 for silver coins.

My outings may be fewer for a while, but I'm going to try older areas when I do get out so I can get to the old coinage, which is what I'm after (besides rings).

Nat

Thanks Bryce it's good to be back.

Awww... There's got to be an old brass hose nozzle out there, too... ;D

Hey Nat, good to see you posting again! Nice finds, too!!!

Man you dig a lot of cars! :o I always like finding dog tags myself. Speaking of dogs, how are the pooches doing? I hope OK and of course I hope everyone in the family is OK, too! I'm glad the job is going well for you!!

I look forward to your posts and hope to see more soon, my friend! HH!

Thought you fell off the planet Nat...glad you didn't and
welcome back. Congrats on the silver, toys and other goodies.
Glad you got a new job..it might limit your detecting time, but it
will keep a roof over your head and food on the table. Good
post. Gold Nuggets :hello:

Thanks Tom and Gold Nuggets, and Neil thanks for asking about the dogs..they're all doing well! Tasha still thinks she's ruler of the roost! This week will be warmer and the sun will be out, so there will be more time for them to run around n the yard :) I have 2 dozen hose nozzles in the garage..whenever I dig one up I laugh :D

The job is going well and I also wanted to mention the detecting book is done..I'll be visiting a local printer later this week :hello2: When it's ready for distribution I'll let everyone know and I'll make sure to reserve a copy for you.

It's about dern time you got out! I thought you sold your detector or something worse! :-\ Good to see you posting again Nattie....and you got some goodies too! Those weights looks like they could be gram weights for an old scale or something....neat find!

Take care and quit working so hard!

HH,
Moon

Thanks Cindy! I'll try not to work so hard, but I can't give you any guarentees :dontknow: And I'd never sell my detector..I'm having too much fun with it :laughing7:
