The last few days have been much warmer than normal, but unfortunately it still has not thawed out the ground ( PermaFrost ). Today I visited with my two sons who are on college break. The temperature was near the freezing point with flurries in the air. My youngest got an Ace 250 for Xmas and is enjoying trying it out. We detected an area park along the water front near where they live. There the ground was somewhat workable. My sons both bottle hunt and it wasn't long before they popped out six nice 1920-30 era soda bottles. I never seem to find any bottles even though I would like to. I did find a small coin spill of 70 cents in clad in the first area we hunted. We took a break for lunch and returned to a different section of the park. My sons found a gold plated Xmas stocking pendant. I found my first silver of 2014 a 1945 P War Nickel and a 1929 Wheat Cent. I also found a the end of a miniature golf club, Overall a bonus day detecting in January considering the deep snow cover and below zero temperatures we just had.

Good finds for you & your sons today! :icon_thumright: :occasion18: Glad you were able to get out. I recall how beautiful the finger lakes region and gorges are in every season! Andi

Congrats on your first silver of the year! I'm sure you'll find plenty more! HH.

You were fortunate to have the chance to detect considering the cold temps we've had this winter!
Congrats on the silver nickel and on getting to spend some 'quality time' with your boys!
