Stopped by my first bank in a month yesterday, and picked up $90 in CWR's. Found a '64 and a '69. Great start to the year!

Today I had time to stop by several banks after work, and had something happen that I'd heard of before but never personally experienced. I asked the teller if she had any halves. She had $6.50, and after checking with the other tellers came up with an additional $3.50. As she paid the other teller the $3.50, she came back with the halves saying to me "Hey, this one is from 1965. I think that's like 30% silver. Here you go."

:o

Utterly speechless, I mumbled something like oh, that's nice, thanks, and got out of there fast. Nothing like having the teller acknowledge that she's giving you free money, and be cheerful about it!

Good Catch. Hoping this teller does not get more educated.

Most tellers know silver coins, most tellers also think silver is still at the ~$10 an ounce range.

Congrats! Be extra nice to that one...maybe she will save them for you?
I'm still looking for my first 90% of the year..
Guess I still have plenty of time. lol

In my area I have yet to find one so educated. They are all wondering why I want all those heavy coins lol. One handed me a Ben and said, "im not sure this one is US currency, I think its a foreign coin." I told her to save all the foreign coins she could find for me. :icon_thumright:
