First Silver For The Little Guy

I didnt get much detecting in today, all of my initial plans fell through. I decided to walk to the park behind my place with my little one and play around a bit with the detector while he did his own thing.

Little Jer got board and asked me if he could try the metal detector, so I shortened the shaft and let him loose. Not 5 min later He said dad I have something good. So I investigated, it was a very shallow quarter/ dime type signal, so I started diggin for him expecting to unearth a freshly droped dime. To my and his suprise it turned out to be a nice silver ring with a pink stone in it. Little Jer's first solo silver find I think hes hooked at 4 years old!!!!!!

I couldnt be more proud of him.

He plays most of the time, but likes to swing er around every now and then.

I have to find him a mini detector, you should see him swingin the Explorer around He has to swing er with both hands.

Theres no doubt about that, I still remember finding my first silver with my father when I was just knee high to a grass hopper. Except that I found mine playing in the dirt pile he was detecting.

Excellent find! What a look of triumph! Got him hooked early. I bought a little detector at Toys B Us to use as a pinpointer, but the 23" handle makes it awkward. It actually is pretty sensitive for surface-to-2" hits. Here's a link.

That is one cool ring. Jerxs I bought my kids little detectors from Target. They don't have disc. but they do work.
