I went to a secluded little used park today. I spent about 2 hours hunting and came up with my first Silver Coin (1913 Barber Dime) and a partly silver ear ring (Surface Find). Then there were the copper Memorial Pennies and a Zink. A nickel and a bunch of trash. I think before this was a park it was a Home Site. Here are my finds today.

I definatly plan on doing just that. I am studying historical maps of the area. It looks like there may have been some sort of mill or factory there in the past. The land shows empty in the 1960s but older drawn maps show a large complex along the river until approx. 1940 or so. Then nothing. Now there is a park that was built in the early 1970s. This could get interesting.

That site is a coin factory ..go back there

Congrats on a good day and your first silver!!

Congrats on some of your first finds!! That site should yield many more firsts for you!!

Congrats on your first silver Retired Fire. A Barber dime is one heck of a way to start.

Congrats on your 1st silver and your 1st Barber. :occasion14: Took me 8 months of heavy detecting to pull my 1st Barber.

Thanks! I was so surprised. I said rather loudly "Holy Crap!! NO WAY!!" when I saw what it was. LOL Some lady was walking her dog and she yelled back "Yes Way", LOL. I was a little embarrassed but very pleased with my find.

That's finding a First Silver with style! :icon_thumright:

I know the feeling, I get a perma-smile and dance a little jig when I pull a bucket lister. Enjoy the feeling, it's what we look for on every hunt.
