Hey Everyone,

I set my Fisher as Onion had suggested. Well, I went to a new spot that I've never hunted before so I'm not sure if it was the settings or the virgin ground, BUT I found over $3 in clad, 1 silver pendant, 1 heart pendant (fake but nice), and 2 rings! The rings were both fake stuff too but it was really cool finding jewelry instead of just clad and pull tabs :) I'll post the photos when I get a chance. ALSO, the day before yesterday I found a Kennedy 50 cent piece, 1971 in beautiful condition and a Canadian $1, the gold colored one with a Loone on back! Boy did I freakout when I saw that in the hole! I had visions of retirement in my head :) Anyhow, I will post photos of everything when I get home.

Again, I'm not sure if it was the settings Onion suggested or if it was because I hit a new area. I can say this, I didn't pull up as much trash as I have been pulling in the past. SO, I would think that the settings Onion had suggested have helped in that manner for sure!

Thanks for the help Onion and I'll keep everyone posted on what I find. OH, I almost forgot, my detector (Fisher 1280X) doesn't have a spot on the discrim dial labled "nickel" so I'm not sure what that setting would be. I know that if I set it to about 5.5 that I'm right at the edge of detecting gold and pull tabs and nothing below that. I'm not sure where nickel will fall in relation to the gold setting. Maybe you guys can help me out on that one.

Thanks again Onion and everyone else, ;D

Re: First Silver and Rings!

Darod all you have to do to find out where nickle falls on your detector is to throw one on the ground where there is no other metal around. Run the coil across it and turn the discrimination dial until it breaks up. Then go back the other way until you can just here a clean signal again and that will be your setting for a nickel.

lol

You know, I get so wrapped up in what I'm asking that I don't stop and think sometimes :)

My wife tells me that all the time :-\

I gotcha, I just got a PM from Onion and he said the same thing as you just did. I knew this technique (common sense technique :)) already but I just convienently forgot it while I was posting.

THx,
Rod

Day before yesterday, I loved finding this one. I guess someone just had it in the pocket carrying it around? Oh well, mine now :)

Found this coin within 3 inches of the 50 cent piece :) FREAKED ME OUT when I found it, thought it was gold at first :o

Here is a link to ALL the pics in larger and small sizes. Be for-warned, some of these are rather large!

Thanks everyone,

I forgot to add the pics of the medalion I found on the 12th. Here it is:

By the way Onion,

When you read this post let me tell ya something else. I went to a park today that I've worked 2 times prior. I used the new settings you suggested and I found a $1.87 in about an hour over ground I've already covered. SO, I'd say the settings are working pretty well to help me distinguish the good targets out of the overwhelming trash on the site.

Thanks,
Rod

Rod,
Your welcome for the token! ;)

The No limit pendant looks great although I can't read the entire pendant can you tell me what the whole thing says?

Onion

Onion,

Its says "No Limit" on top as you can easily see. Then, directly under the tank and sodlier guy with the machine gun it says "Records". So, I haven't researched it yet but I'm sure it's a Record company logo or something. I'm not sure if the pendant is just tin, silver, or gold plated or something. It's really hard to tell with all the enamel design painted on it. I'll try and take another better pick of it and add it to the post tonight.

Rod

Pirate,

Do you think the medalion is worth anything,...like a collectable or something? You seem to know something about it and that's why I ask :)

Rod

Sorry everyone, I broke the pic links,....all fixed now :)

Great finds, Darod. At least you took the picture before the boys filled their piggy banks. :D
