and maybe my next one will be metal and not a plastic daisy... . Went to an old park today but there was so much trash my Ace never stopped beeping and all my coin beeps were flat Pepsi cans 10 inches deep. got abit frustrated and went to a close by school for an hour for some easy pickings. Got enough clad to at least buy a few mercs, even if I can't find em. I did get a 1940 wheatie outta the deal.

Wish I'd done that well in clad at least yesterday! Instead, Trash and I were digging the site of an early Old Style massacre. If the can slaw be any indicator.

Don't you just hate it when you get a good old site like that and it's been tainted with can-strewn fill? I hunted the site of al old long-gone RR depot in a small town in Nebraska and got the same thing. Deep new cans. You're right, it IS frustrating!

Well, you did the right thing - moving on to a spot where you could get some satisfaction so the day didn't end on a sour note.

Looks like a nice addition to your clad pile!

That's not a bad haul at all. I've had days when I was praying for clad after all the junk I dug .

I'm sure you've heard this before, but get yourself a small coil and hit it again, but nice and slow to get the keepers laying in between the junk.

Not a bad day at all. All I managed was a clad quarter, memorial, and two wheats (short hunt).

I know what you mean on the Ace 250 over trashy ground. What I did in that situation, was make a custom program that accepts only dime and quarter signals. That way, you're discriminating all trash, and even pennies (since a lot of beer caps ring up as cents). Of course, you won't get gold or nickels, but if you just want a quick clad fix, it'll be your best bet. Also, make sure your sensitivity isn't really high. Good luck.

When you are over a deep can, you can usually tell it if you lift the coil 5 or 6" off the ground and still get a strong signal. Also , sweep the questionable object in several directions and unless it is smashed flat you can usually figure out the size of the target by the endurance of the beep. Just a couple of things I have learned with my ACE. Good luck. Monty

It sounds like this would be ok for shallow quarters and dimes... however, I know that with deep quarters and dimes... this type of discrimination will make the ACE250 break up and actually null on quarters and dimes. My Dad has a clad quarter buried at 8 inches in his backyard, and if we discriminate everything but dimes and quarters, it breaks up really bad... to the point you probably wouldn't dig it, just thinking it was falsing. If you put in both penny notches, it rings pretty sweet... but if you go ALL METAL, it rings the best and actually says QUARTER every time you swing over it. I'm sure all metal would be hell in the trash, but since there's only 3 sounds to listen for, maybe you could get used to it? Also, I do know from testing with my ACE250 that I could see a silver dime between two nails (an inch from the dime to either side) at 6" fairly reliably ONLY when it was in ALL METAL mode (8" was iffy, but you could squeak it out). Forget about discrimination with the ACE if you are in trash looking for deep targets.. but you would probably be ok with shallow targets.
