Out this morning for a pre-dawn patrol before low tide and was getting discouraged at how many bottle caps I pulled from the water-line to about knee deep. I was the only one swinging, which is rare at this spot – maybe the more experienced guys know that things are cleaned out by Friday? So on my way to a different spot and –Ding!– up around the high, wet sand line I got a beautiful tone. After one scoop, I saw an edge of it sticking out of the hole and thought it was a cap to a little liquor bottle (which sound great and there are tons of). Good thing I pocket all my trash because I was nicely surprised when I sifted the second scoop and saw my first gold ring with little diamonds in it! It's either 10, 14 or 18k; can't tell because the '1' is visible but the other number wore off. Weighs 4g.
The thing is, there's an inscription and it was someone's 25th anniversary ring; so I at least want to make an effort to return it. Other than post an ad in the Lost & Found on Craigslist, how would I do that?
Also found the smallest Quarter in the world – pictured next to a regular quarter. That one I had to pick out of the sand. And I found a pre-1970 NYC Subway Token. Cool!
It's going to be a busy few days and the batteries are charging.
Enjoy the weekend y'all and HH!
