Congratulations!! Nice ring you found. Best wishes for many more & HH. ;D

;) RR

Cpongrats on the ring. Looks like you lost it as soon as you got home.

There’ll be more that she’ll claim also.

drver, you are right. She claimed it because her birthstone is pearl. I only see the ring now when she shows it to me. Oh well, this way she doesn't complain when I go to detect.

All rings are nice but the first one is always special. Wives have a thing about claiming all nice rings which lets you off the hook for doing chores around the house like cutting the grass, etc. They learn to use the lawn mower while you are out finding them another nice ring.

I found my first two in the same hole at a park many years ago on Father's Day while detecting with my son.

Sandman

GaElvis; man it’s like Sandman said she’ll claim all good rings, birth stone or not, that’ll include other jewelry also.

Oh well it’s allot of fun to come home and watch her face when you first show her the finds.

Sandman, two rings in one hole? COOL

Sorry, I should mention that the two rings in one hole were not gold, but silver. One was sterling with a small blue stone and the other was a wedding band type made out of a silver quarter. We used to make rings by tapping the edges with a spoon till it was flattened all the way around and hollow out the hole for our finger size. I don't remember ever finishing one.

My best ring is below which I gave to wife on 25 Th. Anniversary. Found it that morning in ankle deep water. Just goes to show not all are in deep water. It is 18 Kt. with 3/4" Amethyst and diamonds. It was the right size too. Course she'd have lied even if it wasn't. She suggested I buy a better detector, an that's how I got my first Excal 1000.

Wow buddy Elvis, now how can ya explain that to someone who's never swung a magic wand before. Along with some of the others here, you can see that there are Many, Many unexplainable things within the TH'ing fraternity. This is of course one of the reasons we all keep goin' back. The rush never stops! ;D

:) Oh Sandman, that's too kool that you used to try and make those old silver rings out of coins way back when. 8) I found one about five years ago that was made from a US quarter, and ya know, it was a perfect fit and I still wear it to-day. Helps when folks ask if I ever find any neat stuff with that weird ol' metal box and frisbee thingy of mine there. ;D

Here's a pic of it, way over on the right leanin' on the old 44-40 dc co. shell caseing.

Sounds like yer now on yer way to start to clean the gold outta GA there good buddy. Looks good on ya. ;)

Nice ring! It looks to be in great shape. Did you find it in the surf? Or on land?

DB

Found it on land around an old road bed that was used up until the 1940'2. It was bent up a little, but she tookit to the jewler and had it repaired. I'm sure that she'll take more, but I'll still keep on mding.

Best ring I ever found was in Aruba in Feb of 2005. Was down there with my family for the week. Our departure flight was delayed a full day (broken plane), so I was in the water @ our hotel with my surfmaster pi.

I heard someone coming up behind me... I was just about chest deep in the water, heading back toward the beach. An older lady (mid 60's i was guessing) asked me if i could help her find her sister's ring. she had just dropped it and was standing right around it. I looked up, and right in my projected path was the other woman... waving at me. I went over, introduced myself, etc.

I did a circle pattern spreading out from where she was standing... and sure enough about 5 feet away from her i got a hit, and scooped it up. As I did, i looked down and started to pray that this wasn't her ring. It was big, VERY shiny... i could see glints, and glitters and white, and red and gold. I asked her to describe it for me and she responded, almost instantly (I can still hear her voice in my head when I tell this story)

"Oh... Its got a large diamond in the center, and that's surrounded by a ring of rubies. 10 I think. And that's surrounded by another row of small diamonds. He bought if for me for our 50th wedding anniversary last year. He got it right here in Aruba, down in Oranjestaad. He got a great deal... He only paid 26 THOUSAND DOLLARS."

I still want to cry when I tell that story. The husband was nice enough to offer me a reward, which I declined. I guess the good karma will have to be enough. What kills me is that she was right in my path, and she said that she and her sister were just getting out of the water when she noticed the ring was gone. Timing apparently is everything

Nice find , keep up the good work, and Happy hunting
Eddy
