We all start somewhere and this is my first, honest-to-goodness relic, a civil war era railroad spike. I dug this at a construction in Virginia with my Classic-2 in a field. I believe I will imagine this was an impromtu tent peg, since it could be?
If RR spikes have ID marks that mean anything, this one has the letter "U" legible on the top. Just like our first love, first car, etc my first CW relic will hold a meaningful place in my memory. Nice trip with good folks. How can you beat it?

Great find! The experts on RailRoad Nails also have SPIKE knowledge - just Google a bit and you will find 'em!
