Hi everyone I'm fairly new here so I thought I would try to post a pic
I enjoy reading your post.
this is from my last outing at a toboggan hill in toronto.
we are frozen in for now but I still go out and detect on bare spots.
I own a minelab explorer and I just got a CZ7a as a second detector for me.
My 13 year old son really likes to use the explorer when we go out together. He uses a torsoro compadre.
but after using the explorer and finding his first 1800 coin with it he now wants to use it. so I bought the Cz7a for me to use when we are together.
It seems to be a good detector, I got a ring on my fist outing silver Nike and some clad, I also got a Chinese token( the deepest I can dig is 4" due to the frozen ground.) I did get some deep coin signals 8-10" but they will have to wait till spring.

Welcome, Don. Looks like you're off to a great start. It's nice that your son enjoys hunting with you. By the way, the Chinese coin is not a token but is known as a cash coin. ?HH and keep us posted. Maybe you'll find a bunch of fishscales.

excellent picture Don.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Glad to see all the people whoare able or.. Willing to go out and do some detecting in not so good weather. Rain usually doesnt stop me it in fact enhances perfrmance, but with the ground frozen or now with 3" of wet mud the times not righ yet.

Looks like you had a good day. It's blowing 40 + here today with gusts to 55 & windchill about 26 degrees. Think I'll stay indoors. Keep up the good work. How about posting some finds from your son? Spotz

I Will try to resize some of my photos from my sons finds.
this site does not allow a big file. I guess I will start to scan with a smaller file.
This pic is only a fraction of finds compared to last year.
I normally don't hunt unless its an old site.
But after not detecting for a few weeks I get ancy to just get out.
So many of my files are larger than 200kbs I will post some smaller ones
these are from an 1800s homestead all were deep 8"+

SWEET as kids nowdays say. Don looks like you have som really great finds. There's no telling what you'll find in those snow plugs.

Welcome to the forum Don. You have some nice finds there. That is great that you and you're son hunt together. Look forward to more pics from you and you're son. Happy Hunting.

Tell your son congratulationd on the 1800 its cool that you both go detecting together.

Excellent! I really like that copper. There is just nothing that old in my part of the country. The Wild West just isin't all that old. Great that your son likes to hunt with you. Keep it up & welcome to the forum. Spotz

thanks everyone for your responce

My son was getting a little discorraged at only getting 40s and up coins
But now he knows he will get older ones using the explorer so he is looking forward to this season.
I have two younger son's 6 and seven and the compadre4 is now the 7 year olds, so it looks like I will have my hands full helping them detect.

Nice finds!

It's encouraging to hear how your Son likes to MD with you. I have 2 boys, 9 and 6 years of age. They are both interested but their still too young to get "really" interested in it. My youngest is far more interested than his older brother. He loves to do the digging when I find something :) Kinda works out good for both of us :D

It's a pleasure to have them both by my side all day!

Well, congrats on the finds again, and enjoy your Son! :)

my kids like it in moderation ( even the 13 year old ) so they detect for a while then go and play then they go at it again. ( I always go to a pk that they can play at as well as detect.
then we go out for lunch and go back to the park for a little while longer.
