First post here, maybe you can help me?
Please see pics of fragment found at the edge of an especially low period in water heights at a lake in the Lake District, UK.

Thinking maybe decorative brickwork...
The thickness is uneven, though the front detailed side is very flat.
Wondering how old it might be, not sure if anyone seeing what it's made from with the side pics?

Thanks for any help,

Stoneware? Seem awfully thick for a crock or bowl. Maybe a decorative tile from some old demolished building :dontknow: I had to look up the place called The Lake District, UK. Dang that's some pretty country.

Thanks for all the quick replies!

I am nestled between a large lake and many fells and mountains - I found after looking at the latest geological surveys - with quite a rich history dating back to pre-neolithic, stone circles, ritual stones and lines, that whole shabang. Not long moved here and got a little collection going of bits I'm finding whilst exploring, and this one interested me.
The pattern's cool anyways.

I don't figure this to be that old naturally, maybe a hundred years or so?

The flat forward-facing edge makes me think it must be some kind of decorative masonry. Maybe a bit old, because the depth of the {brick?} is uneven, like hand cast?
Plant pot or urn could be a good shout like mentioned above...

Keep the suggestions coming guys :hello2:

My first thought was a shard of Medieval Period pottery? :icon_scratch:

If you had found it here in North America, I would've suggested Native American.

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto Charlie! :hello:
