Went out to the beach for the first time with my new machine today, Garrett Ace 400. I'm still learning my way around it and it's been 25 years since I last did any metal detecting. Found a couple bottle caps, 4 Natty Light cans buried in the sand, a stainless washer and modern penny. Oh well, at least I got some trash off the beach. Sorry no pics. Had a ton of fun, though, and I got a taste of what to expect on the beaches of Southwest Florida. I'm hoping to get permission on some local parks a little further inland soon. I'll post pictures if I find anything good.

Hope everyone's having a great Labor Day weekend!

You'll like that machine. Beaches can be tough. Sometimes the stuff just isn't there. Next time you go out, it is.

Nice going! Glad you're back at it. GL next outing.

Good your back at it great hobby lots of fun and every once in a while some great finds.. Good luck Tommy

Welcome present:
Go out to the bridge going to Sanibel. There is a small beach to the left with a parking lot. Walk it back East for about 200' until you come to a smaller beach with a billboard on it. I found around 400 very old coins there. Hunt all the way back to the road and 20' out in the water. I'm sure there's more coins. Good luck! (And you got this because you put in where you live in your profile)

I know that bridge....used to fish for tarpon in that area...or, a little to the north in the flats.

I actually almost stopped there the other day. I know that beach well. It's the one just before you go over the bridge on the left. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new machine & welcome back to the hobby, sounds like you got some good tips to give you & your machine a workout, GL&HH

Billieg, how old is very old?

There were coins from all over the world. Some from the 1700's and one from China 1550. No gold but a few silver. There use to be a store there in the late 1800's and it's said the owner collected odd coins and put them in a green glass jar. the place burnt down with him in it and it was bulldozed. I also found green pieces of glass. This is just one page from that binder. The binder went through a hurricane so it's a little torn up.
