First Non-Clad or Crap Find & Bloody Rain

Well it was a little cloudy today but I decided to go out and detect in our yard for a bit.

My first signal was too intermittant for me to pin down so after a little digging I gave it up. My second signal was much stronger and after a little bit I uncovered a small Disney toy plane with what looks like a little bear waving. It was in pretty good shape, a little dirty (DUH), but the moving parts still moved. When I find enough interesting things to warrant pictures of I'll post them, including my first penny.

Then I found another relatively strong signal though finding it was taking some doing and I had a nice hole dug up and then it got really dark and a few minutes later it started to rain! :P We haven't had rain in awhile and it chose today to change that. Bleah!

I know the MD is supposed to be waterproof but I really didn't fancy digging in the rain with it outside and I can catch colds fairly easily if I'm not careful, so I packed up my stuff and left the hole open, cause I didn't want to have to start all over again, and went inside. Since it's in my own yard I'm not worried about leaving a open hole.

I do have one question, how do people clean off their coil and their view box as they're bound to get dirty?

Congrats on the Finds SONJA ?:) ? I just use a Mild Spray Cleaner on a paper towel to wipe Mine Down. BY THE WAY, Your Control Box Probably isn't water Proof. Be Carefull

Re: First Non-Clad or Crap Find & Bloody Rain

Dear Jeff,

It's on the page for Prizm III: "Rugged, water resistant control box." But I know resistant isn't the same as water proof, so I will becareful, it only had a few drops on it.

Well I went back out to finish digging up my hole cause I couldn't stand not knowing what it was.

It was huge, it was metal and it was what I think was a pipe so I didn't want to try digging it up. Oh well! At least I know where it is so I don't "hit" it again.

CO2,

Oh I don't, and I was going to take a picture but the batteries on my camera are dead :( So I need new ones.

Yeah, the plane does sound kind of interesting. When the ground is wet where I live, which is quite often, I usually put a plastic shower cap around the box to keep it clean and dry.

Dear carat,

I actually had my niece fetch a plastic bag for me when I went out again and put it on my box.

I found this image on a Ebay auction that it was among, it's what mine is but the image is very small, but I'll post a bigger one when I can get batteries for my camera.

SonjaMarie,
Your plane sounds like an interesting find. We, too, had rain yesterday and early this morning. The sun came out later this morning and the temperature got into the low 70's, I would guess. I got in about three and a half hours of detecting this afternoon and it was great. Nothing spectacular found but still enjoyed being out. I live just north of Houston and the weather is getting warmer each day. Keep digging and let us know what you are finding.

Keep at it and keep us posted!

Re: First Non-Clad or Crap Find & Bloody Rain

Good work SonjaMarie. You will be all tuned up & ready for our summer outing. Your rain arrived here in Eastern Oregon. We needed it, so I tried to keep a posative outlook about it. Maybe I can get out for a while tomorrow. I am anxious to see the pix of your plane. You are really sticking with it to get out & dig on a rainy day. Just stay healthy & keep practicing. Spotz

Nice find! Probably lots of other stuff waiting to be found in your yard. I use good old water to clean my detector. If I get grass stains on the coil then I do use a mild spray cleaner but usually water will do the trick. Jim Cal
