It was behind a big boulder & 2 inches down in a crack in the bedrock. I pulled a chunk of lead out of the crack first and thought it was the only target because it was pretty big but I did another sweep over the crack and there was another signal just as loud. Scratched around in the crack and I saw it pop out. Didn't think it was gold at first because it was caked in clay and had an odd shape to it. Washed it off and saw some shine. I think any detector would have hit it at that depth.. LolWow. Good Job! Can I have it? Tell us the story, How deep ? would of your GB11 have found it?? Thanks nicely done. I want to go maybe someday Rutnbuck
Idk.. I think they're paranoid about the gold being stolen. When you sell gold to them they copy your drivers license and take fingerprints... Lol. That or they're really really busy.2 weeks? Why? I would have gone to another jeweler...mine only took 2 days. 2 weeks? Nice find though.
Yeah I know it's a bit risky. Keychain is a good idea too but I think I'd prefer it on a necklace. I'll take it off when I go on big hikes or prospecting around the river. Thanks for putting up the finished product Nate... that looks great!!! I think wearing this nugget as a pendant is a bit risky... I used to find a lot of pendants while water hunting years ago, so it just makes me cautious I guess. On the other hand Nate, you could always put it on a key ring attached to your vehicle keys. It's visible, you'll get a good feeling every time you look at or pick-up your keys, and it creates discussion when people see it... such can result in new detecting leads. Below is a photo of my key ring with a couple of silver nuggets attached... Jim.<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=938074"/>
