First Musket Balls

I found these while combing the hills looking for Nuggets. I have a friend who has a vintage Black Powder Gun and Rifle. He says these are consistent with a 44 Cal. and a 50 Cal... Though I have no way of confirming the age, based on the location, it's unlikely they were fired from a weapon recently. I'd hunted this area a few times in the past, and turned up 1 end of a shotgun shell and nothing else. This find, however, gives me hope, so I'll hunt it again as time permits.

I would doubt they are recently shot due to the white crust on them.
