First MD first find

Got my first metal detector today, a BH 505. I did some hunting in my yard after dark and found a 1950 quarter, I was happy. The tinytec pinpointer I ordered at the same time was the only way I ever could have found the coins in the dark.

Great find! I have yet to find my first silver and have been hunting since Christmas. I have found just about as much clad here in my own yard as anywhere though, didn't know I was so rich!

Congrats on the silver Wolf! I started that way too....First day out got 2 mercs and 2 silver quarters. Be careful of the anti-climax. It took a while to find my next silver. I thought I was gonna get some every time I picked up my MD . Great start and hang on to the buzz for as long as you can~CO2

In the summer I do quite a bit of hunting at night. I use a cheap head lamp that can be bought at walmart or any hardware store. Frees up the hands and saves on the batteries for the detector(dont have to use the light on LCD screen. Good luck & HH Dave.

Ekboy, when you hunt with your light do you have problems with bugs? I tried a head lamp on a fishing trip and the bugs ate my face every time I turned it on!

I remember my first silver quarter. I was resting at a picnic table at the old park and turned the detector on right where the coil was sitting. I got a mellow tone and decided to dig. It turned out to be a 1938 quarter.
