Hey gang, I have been on the site for a couple of months now but was waiting to find something interesting beyond the usual clad items before I tried a post. I have pretty good luck on most hunts with assorted clad for battery money (usually a couple of dollars worth per trip) and seem to be acquiring a nice start on a toy car collection. I did find a nice .925 silver bracelet a couple of weeks ago for my first silver score. But this is the one I was waiting for, always wanted to find one of these in the wild. I know this is probably not a big deal to the seasoned vets of the game, but I was pretty excited for my first Indian and it broke me into the 1800's as well!! Found in a small town park that has been hammered for years.

The large heavy "14" medallion was a heart stopper for a brief second when seen edge on in the hole, looked like a large coin at first glance. It was some kind of necklace as it has a hole through the edge for a string to feed through and was probably baseball related as it was found on a ball field. The tiny little medallion is a cheap trinket with the 3rd commandment on it.

Anyway, glad to be a part of the forum, good luck to all on every hunt!!

Very Cool..

The first of many more,. I hope.

I have dug only one IH in the last couple years ,so finding one is a BIG DEAL for me as well.

Davers

Congrats on your first IHC. One of my favorite coins. GL&HH.

its a big deal to a lot of us, including myself. love the IH and have only found one, it also broke the 1800 barrier for me. congrats

Yeah those seem to be harder to find all the time, "Good Save" there on that IHP !!

Congrats on your first indian. I only found 2 since detecting and loved seeing mines come outa da ground!

Congrats. A real eye-catcher. I'm still searching for my first IH. Ironic that you found it in a park that has been hit pretty hard in the past. HH.

Congratulations on not only your first IH penny, but a nice one at that. Great detail and should clean up beautifully. I started MDing in January of this year and have found only one IH penny. Unfortunately just last night I threw mine away by accident, but I don't get into the details.

That's a great find and trust me they never get old. I've found lots of 1700s coins and some Spanish silver and I still LOVE seeing an indian head or any other 1800s coin. I love the design of the indian head. Little trivia for you. Did you know that is not actually an indian but lady Liberty wearing a Native American headress.
Ok class dismissed :-)

nice!, gotta love them Indians!

Nice digs and thanks for those pics

IH's are always a big deal to me, one of my favorite coins. I have only found one with my MD so far as well and too toasted for a date. I made my own electrolysis set up last night and tested it on a rusty nail, now I'm going to try, in little bursts, to see if I can get the date off mine.

finding IH's never gets old..looks like you doing pretty well. took me awhile to find my first. Yours is in nice shape too.

First one is always a thrill! Consequently, my first broke me into the 1800's too and to date is still my oldest coin find (1887). This year though, I have done my best ever on IH's...just chalked up my 7th for 2014. There were a few years since 2010 that I didn't find any (2010, 2011 & 2013) but 2012 I found two. :icon_scratch: Not all of them were in the best shape either. If I can at least read the whole date(knowing it's an IH to begin with), that is good enough for me. Anyway, nice job...there are more...go get them! ;)

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for posting. You've found a coin that we all would be thrilled to uncover. Hopefully, with a little research and swinging time, you'll be finding a lot more!

Thanks to everyone for the generous replies, I am very excited with the hobby/obsession and this definitely fueled the fire. I have the good fortune of living in an area with lots of potential plus a job that travels me all over the country weekly. I also have lots of time for research, so hoping to have lots to contribute here in the future. Luck to all!!
