dfx, Ryedale!
Today I was unwrapping a box of pennies (I unwrap and then later run them through the Ryedale) and when I was finished I stood up and noticed I had dropped a penny onto my seat. I Picked it up, and it was a 1907 IH!

Of all the pennies in the box, to only drop ONE penny, and have only ONE on my seat, and it to be an IH? It was like it WANTED to be found. :-)

This is the first IH for the year. ONly found 2 all last year, and I'd like to beat that number. This helps! :-)

(No picture, but it is just a normal run of the mill 1907. OKay shape, but not great. The key thogh is that it is now MY 1907 IH. :-) Woohoo!)

Sweet, love those IH

I was wondering if those Ryedale machines worked well. I went to the sight
and saw the demonstration and was pleased. Has it been accurate, and if
you could do it over again would you get another one.

Sorry about the questions. I don't know anyone that has one.

Thanks
Bill

Bill,

In my opinion, the Ryedale machine is hte best Treasure collecting machine I have ever owned. I love it more than my WHite's (ALL my white's LOL) and anything else I have. I would glaldy give up my metal detectors for life if I had to in order to have the Ryedale (Fortunately, I don' t have to. But anyway, that's how happy I am with it!!)

it is VERY accurate, it runs smoothly (Most of the time), and it goes so fast that it makes it easy for me to do 10 boxes of pennies a week. I was doing 24 b oxes a week, and it did great there too, but after a while I slowed down to 10 boxes a week only.

Would I do it again? If the machine cost $1,000, I would still buy it and be happy with it.

Gee, I hope my thoughts come across clear that I like it. LOLOL. Yeah, on this one, there is NO doubt. I give it a 12 out of a scale of 1 to 10.

CONGRATS on the Indian Head

They are an awesome coin to find. I like them much better than Buffalo nickels and almost as much as V nickels.

I have been fortunate enough to find a few this year and every time I find one my heart still skips a beat. The thrill of the hunt is what makes this hobby so great!!!.

So are you saying you like the Ryedale machine. LOL!!! I will be joining that club by the end of the month. Talked to Andy and he is a great guy to deal with. I will be ordering my apprentice machine next week.

Happy hunting and hope many more Indian heads are in your future.

Jason

I don't collect them but I'm always amazed that people still find IH coins in boxes. I have a few that were given to me,or I found metal detecting, but I never got one in change.

Good Score !!!

lol Tell us how you _really_ feel :icon_sunny:

I might have to just give up the ghost and invest in one. But they are so much! With Cu prices down I cant see making enough of a profit to ever break even....

Actually you'd be SHOCKED to see how quickly you can make up the cost of a ryedale.

I bought 70 boxes of copper int he two weeks before my ryedale showed up. After all, it was new, and I would go through it all. It took me almost a month to go through all that. But, in the first month ...

I found about 433 coppers per box average. And that is low for many parts of the country, but in Phoenix we get newer coins (Just works that way). Take that times 70 boxes, and it is 30,310 copper pennies. Or $303.10. Knowing that on ebay I could sell them for let's say an average of $0.02 per penny (they were consistently $130 for a $50 bag last summer, but let'ss ayt his is an average. Even a FUTURE avearage, as copper goes back up in 2010) That's a gain of $310.10 in a MONTH. But wait there's more. I also found about 500 wheats int hat month. Those I'm not selling, but that has to be taken into account.

Taking the wheats as "kept profit", still it would take only 2 - 4 months to recoup the entire cost of the machine. And that accounts for the huge start up and then doing less after that as it falls into a routine.

I can't say that my white's would pay for itself in 3 months. I don't know anyone who can - unless they hit on a diamond ring or something like that. And that DOES happen. People pay for their white's in one day! But the NORM is not that. Here the NORM would be 3 months and a ryedale would pay for itself.

IMHO. (said the crazy person who does pennies out the ying yang. And has a saggging CONCRETE garage floor from the weight of penny boxes stacked up full of copper waiting for the next opportunity to sell high!) LOL

:-)
