First Indian Head! & more from old homestead

Yesterday and today my son and I went back to the homestead where I found the harness bell. Friday I had the Quattro and was having trouble with the iorn in the ground. Consequently, I only found 1 coin. Did find the silverware. Natel?s first coin was the 1874 Indian Head. We couldn?t make out what it was but we knew it was old. Shortly after that he found the silver quarter and merc. He showed me up! :P

Saturday I had a different plan. I took the Whites? classic III and turned the discrimination down. We were not at the site but 15 minutes and I found the 1905 Indian Head. My first! ;D ;D I yelled over to Nate and he gives me this surprised look. ?How deep was it?? he asked. ?About an inch? I replied. ?What did it VDI at?? he asks. ?Beep, beep? I replied. Yes, no visual on this machine. Anyway we had fun and found some early date wheats and some interesting relics. Had to dig through a lot of trash.

Re: First Indian Head! & more from old homestead

Thanks all.

Earthworks - I enjoy doing the pictures. Even if my finds are not stellar I can make them look good. ;D I have a "cheap" Nikon 2 Megapixel Coolpix camera. I set it on scene for the macro funtion or close ups. You also will need a good light. I use a 250 Watt halogen from Sears. Usually when you buy a digital camera from one of the big names(Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Kodack, etc) they provide image editing software. Nikon provided PhotoImpression 4.0 by Arcsoft. For image editing software it does the job for resizing and placing text. Very user friendly. I have also used software by Roxio and the latest Jasc paintshop. The Roxio software is user friendly but the Jasc paintshop might be a little much for someone new at photo editing. Good luck.

And from the looks of the trash pile, you did a lot of dig'n to get them, WTG!!!, again...
What's the deal with that little coke bottle? It threw me for a loop for asecond, I though. Man, that's huge bell, but it's the bottle that's small, right?
Good luck, & happy hunting~
