First I crapped my pants, then I cried.....

Well my pro pointer came in and I tell my 5 year old daughter " lets go try it out". We stayed in the back yard but hit it like never before. So I get a hit, 88,87,82,88. I'm like WTH? So I give her the pointer and she hits money right away. She sticks her finger in the dirt and I see gold!!! We're both looking the same at this point she pulls it out and it's a coin! Then the pointer goes off again and it's another! I clean them off and they are friggin Sacagawea dollars. So I cried......almost. Well we found a bunch of clad and some other junk, The best part is, 5 year old little girl saying that Metal Detecting is awesome.

First they give us those "play money" zincolns, (wonder what Abe would say about having his likeness on such?). Then, they come up with the bright idea to make those worthless gold colored dollars! It should be against the rules to make coins that look like gold!!! If it looks like gold then it should be made out of gold!!

Ya know, I think I wouldn't complain too much if I found a hundred of those though.

At 4 mine was asking me daily when/if we were going M'ding as he couldn't wait to get out there to find "treasure" with dad -

at 6 he would ask - are we going M'ding today dad? He couldn't wait to see what the day would bring!

at 8 he would ask just because he wanted to go to a park or school to play on the swings/etc. and make new friends

at 10 I had to bribe him with a free lunch at Mc Donald's just to come along for a few hrs and that was only IF it were somewhere with something "fun" for him to do!

at 12 it was all over except the cryin (on my part) as nothing would pry him away from video games and his friends!

at 16 he "laughed" and said NO way am I going M'ding because that's for "dorks"!

He's 21 now but it seems like just "yesterday"!
