Been using the Deus 1 for the last 9 years - just got a Deus 2 last week.
The first hunt I went on was at a old Church site - the Church was built in 1842 and burned down in 1930.
This site is a carpet of iron - literally 10 to 20 or more iron hits in every swing.
Grid searched this area several times in the past with the E-Trac with a 6" coil and Deus 1 - never found one old coin.
Hunted same 60 ft. by 60 ft. area the exact same way with the D2 using Gary's "Tekkna" Program.
Hunted the area for over an hour - only got one good clean hit that really stood out.
A 1897 Indian Cent down about 6" with five or six rusty nails in the same hole - pretty cool !

Good Hunting !

That's a good looking IHP! Try working it like I do my 1850's school yard. Low and slow through the iron and listen for faint high tone blips. I also use Tekkna and "Legacy" found on youtube.

Thanks for the info. sibbley.
I watched this video on the "Legacy" program before my D2 arrived.
It seems like both programs are excellent in iron - I'll give it try in the near future.
I just went with the "Tekkna" program for now because I'm a big fan of Gary Blackwell.

This is a prime example of how even the most annoying iron infested sites can and do hide good things. It takes a lot more work and the rewards can be slim but just know if you can find such a thing in such a polluted site you can do well anywhere. It's the best training but not everybody can bear it.
It also proves the point that no matter how good you are with a certain detector you can get a different model/brand and try the same spots and find something you missed before. Different metal detectors do make a difference. This is also an excuse to have multiple detectors from different brands available to try at places.

I agree 100 % - I really like hunting the heavy iron sites.
They hide the good finds from a lot of other people.

E-Trac, that IS pretty cool! Good news is, the more time you spend w/ your new machine, it will only get cooler.
This is true - have thousands of hours on my D1 but it will still take a while to really get dialed in on the D2.
