I took the 800 out to a woods that I and a few others have pounded to death. I think the area may have been a boy scout camp site at one time.

It was a wheatie honey hole, well over 250 dug in the past. Surprisingly very few nickels or silver were dug, less the 10.

I figured I would try it today with the 800. It is a incredibly clean area with very little trash. Moist dark loam soil.

I used Park 1 with sens at 24 and recovery at 3.

I only dug 4 coins but all were keepers...3 wheats and a silver quarter. All deep. 1 wheat was 6"+ and 2 were over 8". Quarter was shallowest at 6".
That's a pretty good hunt at this site.

Would I of dug them with my Deus or E trac??? who knows?? I hunted the area many times with both of them and I seemed to miss them or didn't put the coil over them.

Considering my lack of 800 experience, I am happy with the first hunt. The real test will be hunting my iron infested beach. So far only the deus handles it well with its fast recovery speed. Cant wait to see what the 800 does.

Nice old coin finds! :occasion14:

Nice first hunt with the new machine! I can tell you the equinox is blazing fast and I'd bet you will be surprised at the beach. I don't think it's deeper than the big name detectors as much as it is a very good unmasker

What part of Wisconsin?

well done...

Yesterday I went back to the same pounded out wheaty hole again. Found 9 more coins. 7 1940's and earlier wheaties, a silver war nickel and a 1949 nickel. All 8"+ deep.

The finds are not that amazing, but just the fact that they came out of that same previously pounded site is.

I think I may be becoming a Equinox fan boy if this trend continues.

Hopefully spring comes and I can hit some of my better older sites.

Park 1, Sens 23-24, recovery 2.... Most recovered the depth of my pin pointer

That many Wheaties is always a good sign Toothpick that there is still some silver or more war nickels possibly hiding. :)

3 for 3!!

Hunt #3 also produced some silver.

I ended up with a 1916 ( looks like no D :crybaby2::crybaby2:) and 1917 Mercury plus a couple wheats.

My hunting buddy, also running a 800 scored a 1946 Rosie and some wheaties.

This too was a beach we hit multiple times over the years.

Hard to tell exactly how deep when in the water, but they were all at least 2 scoops.
