First hunt using "Bigfoot" coil

Got out yesterday with it hooked up on my XLT. The programs and techniques were all the same except for ground balancing and centering the target, but I caught on to that okay.
Comments - the target-depth reading has been a little harder to get
- not too sure of the depth accuracy yet
- no targets below 4 or 5 inches so far.
- I'm not covering ground any faster yet, since still learning.
Site was a 1920's house yard with very little trash.
Skipping photos, but I got 2 clad quarters, 1 clad dime, and 10 pennies in 90 minutes.
5 of the pennies were wheat (42,42,46,48, and 56-D). Also found an old brass outdoor faucet handle - removable "key" type. Gave it to the owner.
Will go back. Only got 1/4 of the yard.

Re: First hunt using "Bigfoot" coil

I think you have to get to on of those sites in the past where you have found some supper deep targets and test that coin there ...Mabe the site your hunting is at that limit of depth at 4 to 5 inches nothing deeper....good Luck and keep us informed.............Seeker

Re: First hunt using "Bigfoot" coil

Glad to hear somebody else besides me digs those faucet handles. I've found some pretty nice looking ones ;D

Anyway, nice batch of finds for such a short hunt. Sometimes the finds are only 3 to 5 inches deep. Every area is different.

Re: First hunt using "Bigfoot" coil

I have had bigfoot coils for my XLT and now my DFX. They are great coils for covering a lot of ground in a short time 18" per swing. They are not good for a lot of depth. I use mine a lot when there is not a lot of trash and I want to cover ground. Be sure to turn your AC sensitivity and pre amp up with your bigfoot. You can run it a good bit higher than with the stock coil. If you want to you can discriminate every thing but Quarters out and hit every park in town. You wont believe how many quarters you will find when you are not digging every thing else. If you are lucky there will usually be a silver ring or two thrown in. Run it in the relic mode and turn the pre amp and ac sen. up for max depth. Good luck it is a great coil but like other coils not great for every situation.

Hope you get the hang of it soon. Best of luck

hi bud,
i use my bigfoot coil on my MXT and have had pretty good success with depth.i stick to open fields and ball fields plus a few other selective areas.it isnt for everywhere but i do enjoy it.
