After a couple hunts not worth to share we met on an old site today first. We did just over an hour to look if something came up after he turned the stubble under.
I found nothing roman, but the wax seal was a nice find! Not that old, but a design i didn't seen before...

We moved over to another field we never detected before as it's new on the permission list. It's a roman site reported on. We were happy to confirm that after the first steps on the fresh ploughed field. Some roman pottery and tile fragments showed roman activity. It had a lot of WWII trash, so we got lots of shrapnel and driving band pieces...
My buddy had to leave early due to family things and otwbttc he got a celtic fibula. First find and a good one. I concentrated on this area and started with a Follis.

I was short on detecting time also, but managed some more coins. Very good condition, the field must been pasture for a long time...
Coins just cleaned with water.

And with some antique wax.

Large and small buckle. The small medieval buckle is from another hunt. Found it in the pouch today...
It's a first, had no silver plated medieval buckle before.

And another coin from the pouch i need Cru Dads help with. 17-19mm diameter, 3.5gr, looks like a galley coin.

Fabulous finds!! Congrats!!

Wow! I can't even imagine detecting a place like that...we have nothing metal in the ground older than 275 years where we live.

Congratulations, incredible finds, thank you for sharing I was excited just to see your photo's

those coins are awesome. your pics are great

Awesome and excellent finds! The coins look so nice, I wish I could find them around here.

I like the coin showing Romulus and Remus. Really hits home seeing an image so iconic on a coin that prior to you finding it belonged to a Roman nearly 2 millenia ago.

Fabtastic finds. Thank you for the closeups. Keep at it on the new permission.

You are back in the game, on the board, and now the odds on favorite for Comeback Digger of the Year :occasion14:
Great looking Romans, I bet you can't wait to go back!

Never seen that type of Seal (19th C I would think based on the script letter) - Nice.

Good to see you out on a new site getting nice quality coins.

Cru'dad is away, so I will put you on track for your coin, as I recognize the reverse type as:

FEL TEMP REPARATIO; Emperor standing left on galley, being steered by Victory

I believe the two main Emperors are going to be Constans or Constantius II.

Thanks Steve! I was never off the board, i just had nothing to share with you all. We plan another hunt there on the weekend, we'll see...

Thanks Cru! Both emperors are possible i'm leaning towards Constantius II. If i did not find out for sure either Cru Dad or our coin specialist find out!
Yes, i'm happy to get some good condition coins after the drought i had. We detected around that field before and got no real signs of a site, just roman activity. A good part of the site is probably missing due to a sand/gravel pit of the early/mid 1900s.
The seal is a tough one. Very few to find in this style but i agree with your 19thC. Most likely.

Another great hunt Lu. Silver on a buckle still counts. Those coins are in better shape than most you find. Looks like you have productive ground for awhile. Good luck.
