Hi everyone today at school we got out at noon and it was + 16 outside and decided to go hunting for the first time in 2007. did it ever feel great to get out again!!!!! Its been like how many months since i've gone detecting!! Anyway today me and My Hunting buddy ED went out to a old park from the early 1900's.

We weren't having much luck off the start other then clad. But later on I came upon a strong vdi signal that read 81, at 5 inches down. so I took the cork popper (which is the best digger you can ever buy not joking 100% serious) any way I corked a hole and saw this at the bottom.

So after that amazing first silver of the year (1939 dime) we continued on with our hunt.

Next was a solid 75 at 4 inches. so I dug the cork and I could not find it in the hole. So I looked at my cork popper snd there it was.

So it was going great had a few keepers but sadly, it was almost time to go so we started to head back to the van. On the way there I got a solid signal that read 71, at 4 inches. So i Quickly dug it out. I checked the hole... no longer in the hole, so I checked the dirt piles and BINGO!!!!!!
Isn't it funny how most of the time you hear that the best find was found at the last minute! lol

THATS RIGHT!!!!! 1895!!!!!!! MY OLDEST COIN YET. But the thing is I dont know what it is. A coin, token from where? I checked on the internet a bit and could not figure out what it was. I suck at finding stuff on the internet, so I was wondering if you guys could help me ID this coin. That would be wonderful.

Almost forgot the clad

IF Anyone is wondering what a cork popper is i will show you with this reply.

This is the cork popper it is a miracle, i'm not sure I think it costed me like 30 dollars to buy. but after using it i would pay 100 dollars it is just the absolute best tool in the world expecially if you want to keep the lawn in great condition.

Here I will go step by step on how to use the cork popper properly. (with pics)

1. Grab your cork popper.

2. twist and push it into the desired spot in the ground. and at any depth. (1 - 9 inches)

3. Remove it from the ground by pulling up, set it aside to find your treasure in the hole.

4. When you are done and want to put the cork back in the ground, put the long handle that you see sticking up in the second picture, facing the ground and push down. This will push out the cork you you dug like so.

5. Now grab the cork from the cork popper and set it in the hole lightly. (notice how the cork is perfectly round, which alows you to perfectly slide it back into the ground.)

6. now apply some pressure pushing the cork back into the ground. and there you go, cant even tell you dug there.

I was looking around a little for you coin 1895. First of all must be a kingdom in the country as the crown is on the coin and I think its two C C that are reversed against each other so I was thinking the following but I cannot find a picture of the coin on the net. I am think the king is Christian the 9 of Denmark 1863 - 1906. I also think what you have found is 1/2 a "daler" but I cannot find a picture of the coin you have found. I have posted a similar coin to compair the CC with. I am not sure maybe I am wrong but I did try.

Thanks for the help treasurenut its means a lot that you did look for my coin. THANKS!

Happy Hunting

Great finds, looks like you had a really special day. I too have one of those diggers, I forget what they used to be called. The only problem I had with the digger was if you got a coin in the hole that didn't come out in the plug, I had a hard time seeing it in the bottom of the hole. I used to take a small flashlight with me and a long thingamajig, that would pick up the coin, without digging a bigger hole.

By the way, they use those things at some golf courses to dig the ball holes.

oh I have a great solution for you ringfinder. when you dig the cork and it is still in the hole, Just simply use the whites bullseye pinpointer. With the bullseye pinpointer you just stick it in the hole and wait for the beep and BINGO it works great with the cork popper.
