Haven't posted much on here lately even though I've been watching all the great finds everyone's been having so far this year! Well today marks my first hunt of the year and it much different than I had anticipated. I was able to get permission to hunt an old village that was platted back in 1839. The village and any signs of it are long gone. Only reason we knew about it was because the land owners have the abstract for the property. Anyway, my friend Dan, the land owner, showed me around and then left for work. I searched around for about an hour getting the hits that I expected, shot gun shells, 22 casings and bullets, odd bits of metal, etc. Finally, I got a nice 78-80 hit on my atp. I dug down and not more than 2" I found this decorative little brass hanger
. Then the fun began! Within a 5' area I found myself in a privy/dump site that was period to the location! I found hand blown bottles bottles, oil lamp parts, old shoes (ladies Victorian style boots), old tractor/machine parts, and old iron (no pic of that), home decor, etc...I found THE spot! So, I spent about 2-3 hrs digging as much out as I could before I had to leave to pick up my girls from school. I took pics of the better bottles (a few were cracked really bad and/or broken so no pics of them). I believe most of the bottles were hand blown and those that weren't are definitely turn of the century. Any experts that want to chime in I would be very appreciative of their insight! I secured permission to go back out again and PBS if you're interested I got you a pass too! So here's the pics I took so far. Not the best but should do. And as always thanks for checking them out and HH!!!
No clue what this but it's a clover leaf from Jackson
Cast iron fly wheel? And stove burner
Some of the home decor I found including the glass crystal off a chandelier
No clue what a bottle like this was used for, I found two, the other is badly cracked
Whiskey bottle, only the top looks to have a seam, the bottom is seamless and has bubbles in the glass
Ink well
Dr. Kings New Life Pills...sketchy at best! Lol
Good ole Watkins medicine bottle
Cold cream with and without lids
Sorry I didn't rotate this one, but it says Dr. Scholl's foot saver, patent July 11, 1905, I was unaware that Dr Scholls had been around that long
Cobalt blue cooking pot with another pot fused to the inside of it
And, the assortment of oil lamp parts and boots and pulleys....GREAT DAY!!!
