I'm not 100% as the design changed very little. Need a clear backmark to be sure.

Maybe the peroxide dip? But if its gone, its gone.

I may have given a bum lead on this one.

I have just gone throu my collection of Naval buttons & have noticed a slight difference which make me think its not british (but may have still been made in Britain, Birmingham under licence for other countries?). I have British ones with the same rim & anchor but the rope/chain on all of mine (going right back to 1790s) goes over the right side first. Yours goes over the left side first (not sure what this means?). Hope this helps??

I also now think because of the cheap back that it could be WWI era, as I have many from that time that have done the same.

thanks Dave an Bobbie I sure liked the button to !

thanks crusader, I have noticed the rope going to the left also and the british go's to the right, but it does appear to me that it looks kind of old ;) I will research it more, thanks crusader ;D

Great finds Weasel----That button is way cool.

Cool button, I found one very similar in a playground of my old elementary school a few months back...it was just the front, and the back was missing...may be a modern vest button...
but what do I know??
