So today fellow member Timmune and I went out on our first real hunts. I had poked around my front yard, and for a few minutes at a local park but nothing serious. We went to a spot that I thought would be good, and boy was it! I found 2 .925 silver rings, a 1946 plain wheat penny, a bicentennial Kennedy Half, a .22 hollowpoint round, about 3 bucks worth of clad and 40 billion pull tabs. Timmune didn't hit on any silver today but he found a bunch of clad and equally as many pulltabs. It was really great to finally get out there and use my detector (Bounty Hunter Quicksilver) and learn all the different sounds it makes for different targets, learn how to pinpoint better, and learn the merits of having a Garrett Pro Pointer! Man that thing reallllly speeds up my recovery times. Today was a day of firsts! My first real hunt, my first silver, my first ring(s), my first wheat penny, my first half dollar, and my first bullet! Man what a great hunt!

As soon as I can figure out how to post photos I will!

Congratulations on your first hunt.

Sounds like you did mighty fine.

Congrats on getting a great start to the hobby! As you gain experience w/ the tector during the day, evenings do your research, and also learn to post pics to show off your finds,...HH!

Congratulations! that is a great hunt, hit it again low and slow. HH!

It's great to hear your excitement! Those first few finds are pretty special

sounds like a great time! and yes the pinpointer makes a world of difference in recovery time, I almost wont go out without mine!

Those kind of finds will get a person hooked on MD.
Great job and HH

You always will remember those firsts as they pop out of the hole! Pin pointer...never leave home without it, or extra batteries! Great firsts and HH

I am not sure if I did this correctly or not, but here are some pictures of my finds from yesterday's hunt!! The back of the wheat penny is pretty hammered, and the Kennedy Half is about as clean as I want to get it. Those two silver rings though...WOW silver sure looks great coming out of the ground!! The smaller woman's ring is pretty bent up, but I am sure with a little time and patience I can get it back into shape. The men's ring is pretty cool because the center part of the band actually spins around. I haven't seen a ring like that before. Thanks for looking, and thanks for all of the kind words!

Thanks for the pics buddy! I absolutely love seeing new members that are as excited as you. Very cool

Looks like you have been bitten like the rest of us. Congrats on the nice finds! :icon_thumleft:

Congrats on a great hunt and welcome to the addiction. I won't hunt without my pro pointer!

You need to get in at least 100 hours to understand the detector. After you use it a couple times go back and reread the manual. Also watch U-tube videos of your detector. Good luck and Happy Hunting

That's great advice! Don't get complacent and think you've got it all figured out. You can always learn and it's important to refresh yourself with the basics now and then

awesome finds, congrats on the silver and on the first hunt as well, that doesn't happen very often

Nice digs . Thanks for the pics
