Saturday I went back to the place where I found the broken Spanish facsimile coin the week before. Unfortunately, the farmer has his electric fence repaired and it is making life difficult for the metal detectorist in the old cow pasture. Every time the fence pulses, my detector beeps. I tried changing frequencies and settings, but couldn't eliminate the interference. To make matters worse, the grass and weeds are growing up and the ticks are showing up. I brushed two of them off my shirt.
At this point I'm getting ready to go somewhere else when I hear an iffy signal under a big clump of grass. I scraped the grass clump away with my shovel, and now I'm getting a perfect 93/94 coin signal on the Deus.
It's copper #8 FTY and it's the first one that I can actually read a date and see letters....barely
Turned out to be an 1810 Classic Head large cent.
I also found this totally out of place DC Capitol Transit token. What the heck is this thing doing in a cow pasture in SW PA?
Finally here are other finds from the last two weekends that I didn't post
