Garrett GTI 2500 and Minelab CTX 3030

Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
I have been detecting for about 3 years and this is my first gold. My neighbors are moving to Colorado and when I asked them if I could check their property, they said sure... and "you may even find that gold ring my wife lost years ago". Of course, I was hot to trot... did the grounds and picked up a colonial flat button but that was it. The wife said she thought she lost it in their pond/waterfall. I did the stream below and went in with my detector, but there was too much trash to get a reading. First of the year, I upgraded to a CTX3030. Tried the pond again but no good gold signals came up. I am really still a novice with the unit, but decided to go over the yard area again. I got a good hit 13-23.. about 6 inches from a terraced garden, ground I had gone over before, and dug the hole.. There it was 4 to 4 1/2 inches deep... it was 14k, 8.17 grams with 35 diamonds. Sure did make my day..:hello2: And it sure did make hers too!

Gorgeous ring. Must have been a little bit hard to hand it over.

I went beach detecting for two hours (first time I ever tried beach detecting), I had people throwing pennies in front of the detector, the beach was so hunted out, that the only clad I found was Canadian dimes (They show up like a nail on the Teknetics T2), and I only found one pull tab (A sign people have hit that place hard), but I ended up finding a men's tungsten ring.

Congrats! But did it go something like this?

"Is this the ring you lost?"

"OH MY YEAAAHHYAHHH! That's it! I remember now! It had all those diamonds!" LOL

Dang thats a sparky ring with lots n lots of diamonds!!!! Could not get a better first gold ring find !!!

Way to go! Good deal on returning it, just makes detectorists look good when we do the right thing. Congratulations

That is sweet find.. the CTX is a great machine just take your time.. its visual as well audible.

awesome ring, awesome gold, awesome return. other than that just plain ole awesome

Great that you found and returned that gorgeous ring. I think if I'm ever in that situation I'll ask the previous owner to describe it in detail. And if their description matches I'll return it to them. If not, into the display case it goes.

Yep, that's what I did, Beez. There was an inscription inside the one that I returned. I knew only the person that lost it would know what it said.
That's a huge chunk, BA....glad you didn't give up:icon_thumright:

I'm usually real subtle when I detect, because I don't want to draw attention. I don't think I would be if I found something like that. I would have to roll on the ground at least once.

That is a super chunk of gold and diamonds congrats! Super cool return!

My first gold with the M6 was also a neighbors wedding band I found for her, but I didn't get a picture!
