Detector(s) used
XLT
We went to my parents house today for a combined. party. My belated birthday and my nephews 1st leave from the Navy. I just so happend to have my XLT with me. As the celebrating wound down,I went out and started detecting the back yard , with my Dad in tow.it didnt take long to start finding the clad.we found .31 cents in about 5 min. after popping out a very coroded penny at about 4 "s I told my dad that it could be a wheatie he took it inside to clean it. I jokingly told him that maybe I would find some GOLD until he got back,He laughed and went inside. The next hit I got was very strong and repeatable at 41/2"s.with a vdi of a solid 55 no matter how I swung the coil the number didnt change.I figured oh well junk or not I was digging it.Long story short out popped my first gold ring 10 K womens band I know my jaw dropped when I saw the gold in the side of the plug.Although I know its not wotth allot . But Oh What A Feeling!!

Nice find!!! keep looking it only gets beter! Good Luck form UTAH!!!!!!

Congrates on the gold find. The story was almost as good as finding the ring.

Congrats on your first Gold. Isn't that a beautiful sight to see the gold come out of there?? Keep it up, there is always more somewhere.

That's a great looking ring and story! I picked up on something you said in your story I have never used a XLT but I was wondering what else gives you that reading of 55 that would make you think it was junk?

Great Job. Gold early on is a sign of your future & it's lookin good. Just goes to show that
" All the gold in California" is NOT in a bank in Beaverly Hills In Somebody Elses Name.
Congrats & Happy B-Day. Spotz

55 reading on an xlt on a gold ring???? Thats where silver is. Gold is usually lots lower, like 10-30. What gives. Nice ring!!!!!!!!!

Yep Wayne it was a 55 reading in the ground. I air tested it and it was 58 to 60. silver comes in on my machine at 75 and above. 55 is also a give away for a modern screw cap like on a 2 litre coke bottle, but the vdi numbers float around and they sound a little smeary in the coin preset mode.
thank you all for the congrats !! :)

"Not worth a lot" ?!? Hey, that first gold is priceless no matter how you slice it. So tell us, what's Dad thinking about for his birthday?

Great hunting and keep 'em coming!

Great find!

That looks like a nice ring, a heavy one from what the pic shows.
I'm curious,.....what did you Dad say when he came back out with the corroded penny and he saw the gold ring in your hand :)

Any gold is really cool to find. I think the 55 reading was because it is larger than a thin ring and it is 10K.
10k will read a little higher in the VID range. Way to go. I always dig any thing that has a consistent bar on the graph and does not change more than one number one way or the other. That is a great find keep the pictures coming.

Nice Ring

Now you got gold feverjavascript:void(0);
