I hit a grass ball field at a local park this morning at 6:30AM.? I was passing over most of the iffy signals and concentrated on coins and rings.? It seemed that the park had not been detected.? I had dug about 20 targets and then got a solid VDI 44 indicating a ring.? I cut the flap, pushed it back, checked the plug and the hole...it was in the hole...first scoop I saw a gold rim...I thought - no way - I'm not that lucky.? I cleaned it off and it was a 14K men's band 1/4" across - pretty heavy (10 grams).? I sat there for a few minutes and just enjoyed the feel of a good find.? ? I hunted for about 2 hours total.
There is a 14K hallmark, a Latin inscription and a date.? I'll keep the inscription and date to myself for now...just in case I can find the owner.? Here are the pics...
