Was working on my second cup of coffee this morning when my cell phone rang. It was the grounds keeper at the local fairground. I met him several months ago and he ended up giving me permission to hunt this area. So, he began by asking if I was going to metal detect today and I told him it had been toooo hot to want to do much at all except soak up cool air. He told me that a young lady had lost her wedding band Saturday night at the fairgrounds and wondered if I would come down and see if I might be able to locate it. I gave in but figured it would be a lost cause. They met me and the young lady showed me where she thought she was when she lost it....After an hour and a half and a quart of sweat later, along with 1500 pull tabs..thank goodness I didn't dig all those signals...I was about to give up. I gave it one last ditch effort and got a strong signal..I took my pinpointer out and shifted the dirt a bit and there it was...shining in the loose dirt. You should have seen and heard her when she saw it...I then asked her if she could tell me what "hers" looked like ..and all she could say was "like the one you are holding"..lol She offered to pay but the smile and shouting was reward enough...
